Michael Campbell completed the scoring with a double that drove in Brown. Friddle delivered a two run single to break the tie and after Davy Gregg made the second out, Brown extended his hitting streak to eight games with a single to drive in two more. Ian Paxton doubled Pearce to third and Mahoney was walked intentionally to load the bases. Jon Willard led off the bottom of the eighth with a base hit but pinch runner Mark Stanley was out on a fielder’s choice by Pearce. Mahoney scored on a sacrifice fly by Chris Brown.
South Carolina tied the score in the seventh inning when Ryan Mahoney singled and Joey Friddle and Tommy King reached on bunt singles trying to sacrifice to load the bases. James Crampin, 0-3, the third Brown pitcher, was charged with the loss. Brent Marsh, 1-0, the third of four South Carolina pitchers, was the winner with help from Brandon White for the final two outs. South Carolina improved to 20-5 on the season while Brown dropped to 4-9.
